BRIAN CARTER
Barrister
Brian is a barrister practising predominantly in the family law area (Relationship property, trust, estate and COCA litigation)

He was a partner at McVeagh Fleming; has lectured in family property law at Auckland University (2002-2004) and is a trained mediator (LEADR New Zealand and CEDR United Kingdom).
​
Brian has contributed to Brookers and Family Property and continues to be a regular contributor to continuing professional development (CPD) in the legal profession, presenting at seminars and conferences. Brian is a long-standing member of the ADLS CPD Committee and a member of a NZLS Standards Committee.

Brian regularly appears in the Family Court and the High Court. He has represented clients in the Court of Appeal and the Supreme Court. He often participates in mediations. For many years he has been appointed by the Family Court to act for children in parenting hearings and as counsel to assist the Court.
